Tri-Luma cream is an FDA-approved prescription medication used for the short-term (up to 8 weeks) treatment of moderate-to-severe facial melasma. It combines three active ingredients—
(skin lightener),
(retinoid), and
(corticosteroid)—to reduce dark spots, increase cell turnover, and minimize inflammation
. It is applied once daily at night, typically to the affected areas, and requires strict sun avoidance
Key Considerations
- Purpose: Treats melasma, a condition characterized by dark skin spots.

- Common Side Effects: Redness, peeling, burning, dryness, and itching.
